What is Breast Cancer?

Breast Cancer is a sickness where in the cancer cells became abnormal, in this manner, cancer cells immediately grow and divide speedily than the healthy cells. Tumors are some cancer cells that form growths. Some tumors immediately grow, and sizes of tumors are all increasing. Through the blood and the lymph systems, a cancer cell has the ability to be spread to other body parts, which is called the metastasis.

If the cancer starts at the breast, then it is called a breast cancer, and it can also be found in a mammogram, this is if a woman feels a lump on her breast or by the doctor's examination. It is very important to do monthly self breast exams, and if you are over 40 years of age, it is necessary to have a yearly check up to your doctor or a mammogram each year because breast cancer is prone to women with such age, not unlike with younger women, check ups are done less.

Why is this so? Well, it is because after menopause, breast may either be lumpy or firm if you feel it, a woman who is already menopause has lesser estrogen, so that means breast will feel much softer and will be less lumpy.

The lumpy and firm tissue can actually hide a lump that is small to make it hard to feel. You will be familiar with your breast's tissue if you do the breast checking every month and you will also notice the changes that may occur in your breast. Small lumps are found in a mammogram or by a doctor's examination and some lumps are so small that only a mammogram can detect.

Ducts and lobes, these are breasts are made of. Each of the breasts has 15-20 sections or most commonly known in the medical field as lobes, that has many sections which are smaller; which is known as the lobules.

These lobules have dozens of tiny bulbs which produces milk. Then the ducts are the one that links the lobes, lobules and the bulbs.
The breast has blood vessels and lymph vessels as well.

The one that carry an almost colorless fluid which is called the lymph is the lymph vessels, and then these lymph vessels lead to lymph nodes. These lymph nodes are a small bean shaped structures that are found all over the body. The lymph node organs filter the substances in a fluid which is called the lymph that helps fight diseases and infections. The clusters of lymph nodes are found under the arm called the axilla which is near the breast, in the chest above the collarbone.

Ductal carcinoma is the most common type of breast cancer, and this kind of cancer begins in the cells of the ducts. While the lobular carcinoma is a cancer that begins in the lobes or the lobules, unlike any other types of breast tumors or cancer, the cancer of this kind is more often found in both breasts. And the uncommon type of breast cancer which gives the warm, red and swollen texture of the breast is called the inflammatory breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Candle Favors

I am always touched when I see a breast cancer favor. Having had so many family members and friends touched by this insidious disease I am always deeply touched when someone incorporates the pink ribbon symbol and cause into their event favor - whether it be for a wedding, a birthday celebration or a charity event.

One of the most popular and beloved breast cancer awareness favors is a  candle that features a pink awareness ribbon - whether on the candle itself, the candle label or package, or both. In either case, it is a subtle reminder that breast cancer is a disease that affects us all - either personally or through a loved one.

Because candles are such popular and beloved gift, having a pink ribbon candle favor as a fund raiser is a natural. It is something that people love to use and use frequently. It sets a mood, a scent, a scene.

When choosing the candle for your event, look for a soy based candle that burns clean, that is made with natural ingredients and that is subtlety scented (also make sure that 'unscented' is an option). One that is poured into a glass votive candle is certainly an advantage - it is a 'ready made' favor. Some candle makers even allow you to affix a personalize label which is especially meaningful when the favor is given at a breast cancer themed wedding or event, or when it is used as a fundraiser to showcase the sponsor and to state a message.

Breast Cancer - Advanced Types

Metastatic and locally advanced breast cancer are considered some basic breast cancer types. Metastatic type means that other parts of the body have been affected by the disease, such as the bone, brain, lung and liver. Locally advanced type is related to the local part of the breast and axilla, It means the cancer is large yet localized.

The word, metastatic, portrays a cancer that has extended to distant organs from the original tumor location. It is the most advanced stage (stage IV) of breast cancer. Cancer cells have extended past the breast and axillary (underarm) lymph nodes to other parts of the body where they keep on growing and multiplying. It has the possibility to extend to nearly any area of the body. The most frequent area the disease extends is the bone, and then the lung and liver.

Treatment of metastatic breast cancer in general concentrates on alleviating symptoms and lengthening a woman's lifetime.

You may possibly be told the name locally advanced breast cancer. This denotes the cancer has not broadened to another area of the organ but might be:

- Bigger than 5 cm across

- Growing into the skin or muscle of the chest

- Present in the lymph nodes in the armpit, and these lymph nodes are either stuck to each other, or other structures

Cancers detected in women taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) have a tendency to be less advanced clinically than those identified in women who have not employed HRT. A recent fact puts forward that HRT does not augment breast cancer mortality.

Locally advanced breast cancer has not seemingly broadened outside the breast and axillary lymph glands but involves the skin or the chest wall of the breast. These cancers have a tendency to contain a worse view than early breast cancer and are typically best originally treated by drug therapy or radiotherapy rather than surgery.

In locally advanced breast cancer, the skin of the breast could either be speedily engaged by cancer or it is distended or red. These alterations take place since cancer cells gain entry the fluid channels that drain the breast and blockade them, which leads to the skin of the breast to be inflamed and seem like the skin of an orange. Locally advanced breast cancers were originally treated with surgery but this treatment was doing well in simply roughly 30 per cent of patients.

Although advanced breast cancer applied to be a death term, now this is not essentially so if appropriate treatment is taken. We have completed remarkable strides in learning how to assist the patient with later breast cancer Selecting the proper treatment could factually make the difference between life and death.
